The Colorado Mule Deer Association Held It's Annual Banquet Over The Weekend
The Colorado Mule Deer Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and management of mule deer in the state of Colorado. Founded by passionate hunters, biologists, and outdoor enthusiasts, the association works closely with the Colorado Parks and Wildlife department to fund research studies, habitat improvement projects, and educational outreach programs. Their primary goals are to promote sustainable mule deer populations, preserve critical habitats, and ensure ethical hunting practices. The association relies on membership dues, donations, and fundraising events to support its initiatives, which include lobbying for policies that benefit mule deer, organizing volunteer efforts to enhance food and water sources, and raising awareness about the importance of these iconic ungulates to Colorado's rich natural heritage. With chapters across the state, the Colorado Mule Deer Association provides a unified voice for those committed to the long-term viability of this treasured wildlife species.
Founded in 1974, the organization says they have been "grass roots" since inception and that works for them, and they aren't going anywhere! Living and working in the state, the members of the board of directors work to improve habitat for Mule Deer herds - which trickles down to basically anything that lives and eats in the wilderness, within Colorado. The money they raise, every dollar, stays here in Colorado to continue that work - they don't send a portion of any funds anywhere to support a national organization.
The funds raised are used to introduce young people, women, and veterans to the outdoors and hunting, ensuring they get a change to enjoy our great state with annual hunting trips.
